EGSA Is a GREEN Association

Because of its influential position in an industry largely comprised of fossil-fuel-powered generators, EGSA has taken a leading position on promoting environmentally friendly technologies and practices.

Current Green News

New Regulations for Pre-Tier Stationary Diesel Engines. RICE/NESHAP

The current rule for Internal Combustion (IC) engines is the RICE MACT rule which affects new, reconstructed as well as existing IC engines >500 hp at major sources (finalized in 2004).

The EPA has introduced the Final Rule. Read more about it here.

Powerline Article: Emissions -- Reducing CO and PM from Engine Exhaust

In the July/August 2008 issue of Powerline Magazine, we published an article on reducing emissions. Since this article directly speaks to "greener" power generation, we thought those of you who missed it might like to read it. You can find a reprint here.

EGSA's Green Initiatives

Here are a few of the ways EGSA is addressing green technology and opportunities:

  • We have formed a "Green Committee" which has the following mission:

"The Committee’s purpose is to promote the growing field of green technologies and educate EGSA members of new and existing business opportunities.  This will include green programs, regulations, policies and procedures that may be used to lower emissions, reduce their carbon footprint and improve business profits."

    Visit the committee's page now.
  • We periodically release "Green Advisories" to our members regarding specific news or timely information about "green" technology. See the most current advisories at left.
  • We actively recruit speakers at our semi-annual conferences to address environmental issues and opportunities. See a list of our upcoming meetings.
  • We've streamlined event registration by replacing printed brochures, user guides and faxed registration forms with a more efficient, all-electronic format via our new EGSA event registration portal. You're sure to find it informative, easy to use and environmentally friendly!
