EGSA's Generator Technician Certification establishes a recognized industry standard for technical knowledge in the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of onsite power generation systems.

EGSA Apprentice Technician Certification –
Designed for technical college students, recent graduates, military personnel transitioning into civilian careers, and technicians in their first two years of field experience, the Apprentice Certification establishes a strong foundation in onsite power generation.
The certification assessment evaluates more than 40 core areas of knowledge, confirming that candidates understand the fundamental principles, components, and maintenance practices required to safely work with generator systems.

Certification Validity: Three years
EGSA Journeyman Technician Certification –
The Journeyman Certification recognizes experienced technicians who have demonstrated the advanced technical knowledge required to independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair onsite power generation systems.
Intended for technicians with a minimum of three years of practical field experience, the certification assessment covers 61 comprehensive areas of expertise spanning mechanical systems, electrical systems, controls, diagnostics, and industry best practices.
Achieving Journeyman Certification demonstrates a technician's commitment to professional excellence and provides employers with confidence that the individual meets established industry knowledge standards.

Test Preparation
EGSA Certification Bootcamp
This instructor-guided review program is offered both in-person and in live online formats. The review session has the highest success rate of all EGSA preparatory offerings, and it includes a review of all main test topics to ensure that technicians are fully prepared for the Apprentice and Journeyman Certification exams. The course is offered as one 4-hour review and can include both apprentice and journeyman candidates simultaneously. There are no prerequisites for EGSA Certification Bootcamps but completing the study guide and purchasing EGSA’s Onsite Power Generation reference book are highly recommended. Study Guides:
The EGSA study guides are practice booklets that are mailed directly to you. These study guides are a great option for technicians who have experience but just want to know what to expect on test day. The booklets include all the knowledge areas included in each assessment and practice questions to help candidates gauge their readiness.
